Ginkakuji (the Silver Pavillion) was built in the late 1400's. It was originally intended to be covered in silver leaf - the companion to Kinkakuji - but it was never completed. Although less ostentatious than Kinkakuji - it was built according to Zen asethetics - the grounds are much more impressive.
